Building Community: AAHC NEIGHborhood Groups

NEIGHborhood Groups are the heartbeat of the Athens Area Horse Community, bringing horse enthusiasts together in smaller, localized clusters to foster connection, collaboration, and camaraderie. By focusing on grassroots-level engagement, NEIGHborhood Groups help strengthen the larger AAHC mission of uniting and growing the local horse community

Each NEIGHborhood Group is led by dedicated AAHC Champions who serve as a key points of contact and organizers. Champions organize and host a variety of activities, such as social gatherings, trail ride meet-ups, and community initiatives. These events provide members with opportunities to network, share knowledge, and enjoy equestrian activities in a supportive and welcoming environment. AAHC provides resources for our Champions to build community in their county – providing tools to promote events as well as advice and expertise for navigating community initiatives. We want our Champions to have flexibility to tailor activities to the unique needs and interests of their group.

NEIGHborhood Groups thrive on member participation, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Members are encouraged to engage actively by attending events, volunteering, or even proposing ideas for activities or collaborations. Whether you’re an experienced equestrian or just beginning your journey, these groups offer something for everyone—a chance to learn, grow, and build lasting friendships.

Importantly, NEIGHborhood Groups also act as a vital connection point for AAHC’s larger initiatives. Through regular communication and collaboration with AAHC, Champions ensure that group activities align with our goals of building a thriving community.

Ultimately, NEIGHborhood Groups exemplify the spirit of AAHC: a shared love for horses, a deep sense of community, and a commitment to future generations that they will have a thriving community and green space to ride. Whether you’re saddling up for a trail ride, exchanging stories at a local social, or championing an initiative that benefits the community, NEIGHborhood Groups are where connections are made and the AAHC mission comes to life.
