Barn fires are a constant concern for horse owners and are devastating events to deal with. The emotional toll and financial impact can be felt for years even when no animal lives are lost. So we reached out to our favorite equine safety expert and asked her to help us understand the common causes of barn fires and actions to take to address them

About Dr Husted: Rebecca Gimenez Husted, BS, Ph.D., is the primary instructor and president of Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue. Her first book by the same name was published in 2008. She is an internationally sought instructor in technical rescue techniques, procedures, and methodologies, and she has published numerous critiques, articles, and journal submissions on horse safety, technical large animal rescue, and horse handling issues.
